Teeth Alignment / Orthodontic Treatment

Misalignment of teeth and jaws is called malocclusion. Malocclusion is corrected with the help of orthodontic treatment.

Malocclusion also means crooked teeth or poor bite.

Symptoms
  • Teeth are crooked/protruding
  • Permanent teeth erupting in the wrong position.
  • Difficulty in chewing
  • Pain in the jaw
  • Problem while speaking and biting
Procedure

The alignment of teeth can be corrected using both Removable as well as fixed appliances.

A few teeth may have to be removed to create space if needed. The dentist will then attach braces (fixed appliance) to straighten the crooked teeth and also to move the jaw in the right position. The dentist will place retainers to hold the teeth in right position after the treatment.

Space maintainers are used to prevent the remaining teeth from drifting into open spaces.
